38 g CO2 Cartridge: Overview

Inflating with a Large Cartridge

A 38 g cartridge will bring a car tyre up from soft, but it will not fill one from flat. Use it as a recovery measure and check the pressure properly at the next opportunity.

Hold the inflator head square on the valve while the cylinder discharges, since the discharge is fast and a head that is not seated will leak most of the gas.

Tubeless bicycle tyres

The 38 g size is the one that will seat a tubeless tyre on the rim, which the smaller cartridges often cannot. Remove the valve core for the initial burst, then refit it and top up.

CO2 leaks out of a butyl tube faster than air, so check the pressure before the next ride and top up with a pump.
