8 g CO2 Cartridge: Overview

The cylinder is about 66 mm by 18 mm, which is the short, slim pattern that fits inside a jacket or a belt pack. The thread is 3/8.

Because these cylinders are usually fitted to safety equipment, the thread and the length matter more than the capacity. A cartridge that is a few millimetres too long will not let the mechanism close.

Screw the cartridge in by hand until it seats. Force is what damages the thread in the firing head, and a damaged head will not fire reliably.

Check the mechanism, the cartridge seat and the cylinder at the start of each season. A cylinder that has been in a damp locker for months is the one that fails when it is needed.

After any test firing, replace the cartridge and the seal kit. A part-used cylinder cannot be recharged.
