Quick Coupler Water Valve: Overview

The valve is a key-operated outlet. A body is fixed at the watering point and a riser is pushed in to connect the hose; the valve opens on the key and closes when it is removed, so the hose can be moved without returning to the tap.

The plastic bodies are moulded in 3/4 in and 1 in with male or female threads, and there is a brass version of each for points that are used hard or left exposed. Riser sticks, elbows, nipples and couplers can be bought individually, which matters when a fitting is lost or a point is being extended.

Kits are supplied at three levels: body and riser; body, riser and the fittings to take the hose away; and a full set with a 5 to 30 m hose and a spray gun. The hose sets are the practical option where a complete watering point is being sold to a householder.

Choosing a Quick Coupler Valve

1. Choose 3/4 in for a domestic supply and a standard hose, and 1 in where the run is long, the area is large or more than one point is fed from the same supply.

Care and Maintenance
