Fitting and Using

Fitting

Cut the hose square and push the connector fully home so the barbs are inside the hose and the shoulder sits against the cut end. A hose cut at an angle will leak no matter how hard it is pushed.

Warm the hose end in hot water if it is stiff; forcing a cold hose splits it at the cut and the joint will not hold.

Choosing the size

Measure the inside diameter of the hose, not the outside. A 1/2 in connector in a 3/4 in hose will pull straight out under pressure, and a 3/4 in connector will not enter a 1/2 in hose.

Use the reducing connector where two different hoses have to be joined; it avoids buying a length of new hose to match one fitting.
