GDT GD8077 Tool Box: Overview
This is the mid-size box in the GDT bullet case range, 1 kg empty and moulded in impact-resistant plastic with a ribbed lid. The double-layer layout means the small parts do not end up in the bottom of the box under a hammer: the tray lifts out and sits on the bench while you work.
The lid closes on a full-length hinge with a moulded catch, and the handle folds flat against the lid so the box slides into a boot, a van shelf or a locker without snagging. Moulded ribs on the sides take a padlock or a zip tie where the box is left on site.
It is the box for a car boot, a service van or a workshop shelf: enough room for a socket set, spanners and screwdrivers with the small parts kept where you can find them.

Why two layers

The tray is shallow enough to find things in and deep enough to hold a box of bits, fuses, wall plugs and a few drill bits without spilling when it is moved.
Lid, hinge and handle
The lid runs on a full-length hinge rather than two small pins, which is what stops a loaded box from twisting when it is carried one-handed. The catch is a moulded latch set into the lid line, so nothing protrudes to catch on the van shelf.
The handle folds down into a recess in the lid. Folded, the box is a flat rectangle that stacks; unfolded, the grip is wide enough to carry comfortably with gloves on.
