Using a pocket diamond plate

Hold the plate in one hand and draw the blade across it at the existing bevel angle, edge trailing, with light pressure. Diamond cuts quickly, so ten to fifteen passes on the 400 grit side is usually enough to bring back a working edge, then a few passes on the 600 grit side to finish.
